Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

Cholla Inc. is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to lead and scale the company's FP&A function. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving the full budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting cycle while serving as a key financial partner to executive leadership. The ideal candidate brings experience in the oil & gas, power, and Bitcoin mining industries and understands the financial and operational dynamics unique to energy businesses. They will be equally comfortable building financial infrastructure from the ground up and advising on high-stakes investment and capital allocation decisions. This role requires a self-starter who can operate independently, lead cross-functional initiatives, and leverage modern data and AI tools to drive efficiency and insight across the organization. Key Responsibilities Own and lead the annual budgeting process, coordinating closely with executive leadership and department heads Develop and maintain monthly and long-range forecasts aligned with company strategy and energy market conditions Monitor performance against budget, identifying key variances, risks, and opportunities with clear executive-ready commentary Design, build, and maintain financial dashboards and KPI reporting tailored to oil and gas operations Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting packages to support leadership decision-making Ensure reporting is accurate, actionable, and scalable across the organization Partner with executive leadership to translate strategic initiatives into financial plans and investment theses Conduct scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis, and stress-testing to support capital allocation and operational decisions Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities specific to the energy sector Evaluate and implement tools to improve financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting processes Leverage AI and automation to enhance data analysis, reporting efficiency, and decision support Drive continuous improvement in FP&A processes, data integrity, and system utilization Build and maintain robust financial models supporting forecasting, capital allocation, and strategic initiatives Lead investment analysis using valuation methodologies such as DCF, NAV, and comparable analysis Own and manage the company’s commodity hedging program, including strategy development, instrument selection, counterparty coordination, and ongoing performance monitoring Perform ongoing hedging analysis — evaluating market conditions, portfolio exposure, and price curves — and deliver actionable recommendations to leadership on adding, reducing, or restructuring hedge positions Partner with Treasury and Risk on hedge accounting treatment, mark-to-market reporting, and board-level hedging disclosures Qualifications High-agency operator who takes full ownership of outcomes, moves decisively without waiting to be told, and drives initiatives from idea to completion in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment CFA designation is a plus 5–10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, or consulting Experience in oil & gas, power, Bitcoin mining, or other capital-intensive infrastructure businesses is a plus Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with ability to build and pressure-test complex models Demonstrated experience owning or leading full-cycle budgeting and forecasting processes Proven track record of building financial reporting infrastructure and dashboards from the ground up Proficiency in Excel and financial systems; experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is a plus Familiarity with ERP systems and financial data environments Hands-on experience managing a commodity hedging program, including familiarity with swaps, options, and other derivatives instruments used in oil and gas price risk management Reporting Relationships Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Works closely with: VP of Operations, Director of Treasury, Tax, and Risk, and Director of Accounting #J-18808-Ljbffr Cholla Inc.
