Database Administrator
Texas State Library and Archives Commision
- Lead the phased migration of SQL Server.
- Perform comprehensive installation and configuration of SQL Server instances ,ensuring adherence to best practices and architectural standards.
- Conduct proactive database tuning and optimization to maintain peak health, performance, and stability for high-volume transactional systems.
- Execute robust data migration processes ensuring data consistency and integrity throughout the transition.
- Continuously review ongoing database changes, performing impact analysis to prevent disruptions and ensure operational continuity.
- Provide essential production support, demonstrating flexibility in working hours to address critical database incidents and ensure high availability.
- Collaborate closely with development and operations teams to support ongoing database needs and project requirements.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
- Migration Expertise: Proven experience with SQL Server database migrations, ideally across different infrastructure platforms.
- Performance Tuning: Strong knowledge and practical experience in SQL Server performance tuning and optimization.
- Data Handling: Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain databases handling large amounts of data and high transaction volumes.
- Production Support: Willingness and availability to provide flexible production support, including outside of standard business hours when necessary.
- Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience with OpenShift containers.
- Proficiency in Linux Server environments
