Job Description

Experience:

NOTE: Looking for local or nearby Candidates

Minimum 10 years work-related experience, 3-5 years Management experience

Working knowledge of Lean methodologies

Has good knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), SAE, and other over-the-road vehicle standards and specifications.

Communications:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Effective interaction with personnel at various levels within and outside the business

Positive working attitude toward other employees; be a team player

Engineering Focus:

Develop and lead a team of engineers, designers, and technicians towards world class goals while converting specific customer requirements to robust engineering designs/packages

Provides leadership and direction such that the engineering process is developed and executed similar to a production process, driving efficiencies in cycle time/lead time reduction and defect reduction

Supports the Lean Organization while working closely with manufacturing, quality, and materials on product and process improvement initiatives

Manages the total cost of the Bill of Materials

Oversees the Development of all projects and initiatives including proposal/approval, budgeting, resourcing, milestone deliverables, reliability testing, prototype manufacturing and production launch

Liaisons with Sales and Operations Management in the evaluation of new product offerings

Drive product development through a strong understanding of the marketplace and competitive landscape

Qualifications

Education/Misc.:

4 year Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Master's degree or Professional Engineering degrees desirable

Technical knowledge of mechanical design and material specifications.

Ability to operate a PC with Solid Works or similar software

Additional certifications and training in Lean, Six Sigma, or other advanced degree programs desirable

Ability to travel to other plants (North Carolina) and industry events
