Medical AssistantThis position is primarily responsible for preparing patients for treatment and providing personal care services to patients in a private practice health care facility. The Medical Assistant performs duties utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology, hospital/clinic, and laboratory procedures. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the physician staff and maintaining an effective and efficient work environment that enables the physician to focus on the care of the patients.Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:Rooms patients and measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information in patients' electronic charts.Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment. Cleans and sterilizes instruments.Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed. Assists providers with procedures and treatments.Cleans rooms and maintains supplies, including stocking new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.Responds to patient telephone inquiries by evaluating and responding to the patient's problems and questions or follow-up appointment needs.Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.Faxes and retrieve patient records for the provider for expediting patient care.Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping information confidential and following HIPAA guidelines.Provides coverage to other medical assistants as requested.Prepare and update electronic medical records for patient visits with necessary information as needed. Transcribes and mails letters per provider request and documents necessary information accurately in EMR system.Makes reminder appointment calls for each provider schedule.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position.
