Position: Material Damage Auto Appraiser – Massachusetts Full‑time position responsible for all aspects of the damage appraisal process, auto reinspections, and auto total loss valuations in the state of Massachusetts and surrounding areas as needed. Salary: $75,000–$95,000 annually. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and individual performance incentive. Responsibilities Conduct in-person inspections of vehicle damage as part of the claim adjustment process. Complete auto damage appraisals and reinspections according to State regulations. Perform total loss analysis and obtain market valuations. Support the Claims Department by serving as a technical resource to associates regarding vehicle repair, alternative parts utilization, and total loss conditioning. Occasionally complete quality assurance audits on staff‑adjuster auto repair appraisals. Requirements MA Appraisers license and certification. Valid driver’s license. Minimum of 3 years of auto repair estimating. Proficient in the use of auto repair estimating software. Preferred but not required: Minimum of 2 years of claims department experience. I‑CAR, ASE, and technical school training. Use of Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Experience Expertise in auto nomenclature, design, technology, construction, damage analysis, and repair techniques for body panels and unibody/frames. Negotiating skills. Analytical skills. Detail oriented. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Preferred but not required: Expertise in damage analysis and appraisal for trucks, motor homes, travel trailers, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and specialty equipment. Qualities Needed Ability to provide prompt, personal claim service. Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment while meeting and maintaining predetermined service levels. Ability and willingness to adapt to change and new responsibilities as they become needed.
