Plumbing Service Technician Development Program (16-Week Training Program)

Metro Plumbing, Heating & Air is hiring for our Plumbing Service Technician Development Program , a structured 16-week training program designed for individuals who want to become professional residential plumbing service technicians.

This is not a construction plumbing role and not a traditional apprenticeship.

This program is designed to develop customer-focused service professionals who can diagnose residential plumbing issues, communicate clearly with homeowners, and confidently recommend solutions.

Our technicians use modern tools, technology, tablets, diagnostic equipment, and hands-on field training while working directly alongside experienced service professionals.

A Sales & Customer Communication Focused Program

This is not a “behind-the-scenes” plumbing role.

This program heavily focuses on:

• Customer communication
• Building trust with homeowners
• Explaining plumbing issues clearly
• Presenting repair and replacement options
• Professional sales conversations
• Helping customers make confident decisions

At Metro Plumbing, Heating & Air, our technicians are expected to do more than fix plumbing problems.

They must also:

• Communicate professionally
• Educate homeowners
• Present solutions confidently
• Handle pricing conversations comfortably
• Deliver a high-level customer experience

Because of this, individuals uncomfortable with customer interaction or sales conversations may struggle in this role.

What You Will Learn

During the program, you will learn:

• Residential plumbing fundamentals
• Plumbing diagnostics and troubleshooting
• Modern residential water systems
• How to communicate professionally with customers
• How to explain plumbing issues in simple terms
• How to present repair and replacement options
• How to build trust and confidence with homeowners
• Hands-on field experience through ride-along training

Most training takes place in the field alongside experienced technicians, with limited classroom instruction.

Successful participants will transition into a Plumbing Service Technician role with our company.

Program Structure

The program runs in scheduled cohorts approximately every 16 weeks.

Applicants may be selected for the next available class or contacted for future openings.
