Controls Programmer

Job Description

The HVAC Control Programmer/Project Engineer will be responsible for programming, configuring, and creating graphics for HVAC controls projects assigned by the ATC Supervisor or Project Manager. This person will also support the engineering and submittal process by reviewing job sites, preparing engineering submittals, and creating project commissioning documentation that meets contract requirements. They will keep project documentation and as-built drawings up to date and maintain project files for future reference. In addition, this individual will provide technical support to the Project Management, Service, and Special Projects teams, helping troubleshoot and resolve more advanced HVAC and controls-related issues as they arise.

• Create and review HVAC controls submittals, drawings, and project documentation

• Program and configure control systems using ASI, ABB, and Tridium N4

• Create graphics, dashboards, and user interfaces for building automation systems (BAS)

• Coordinate control system layouts, equipment locations, and communication networks

• Perform system startup, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning to ensure proper operation

• Verify installations meet project specifications, contract requirements, and sequences of operation

• Conduct site visits and inspections to support design, installation, and project execution

• Develop and maintain project documentation, including as-built drawings, device schedules, and sequences of operation

• Assist with hardware and software calibration as needed

• Troubleshoot Building Management System (BMS) issues and resolve technical problems

• Support customer training and participate in job site meetings when required

Skills and Requirements

• Tridium N4 Certification required

• 2-5+ years of HVAC controls programming experience

• Ability to work Monday-Friday with occasional overtime, including evenings, weekends, and early start times as needed

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; able to operate a company vehicle

• Must provide and maintain basic hand tools and testing equipment, including a digital multimeter

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Visio

• Working knowledge of HVAC systems, gas distribution systems, and commercial refrigeration

• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems used in commercial and institutional facilities

• Understanding of building codes, energy codes, and commissioning standards
