About The Position THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 150 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED, AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE WHEN THAT NUMBER IS RECEIVED, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE POSTED CLOSING DATE HAS BEEN REACHED. This examination will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months. SOME POSITIONS MAY BE GRANT FUNDED. GRANT FUNDED POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CONTINUATION BASED ON AVAILABILITY OF GRANT FUNDS AND THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE TERMINATED WITHOUT RIGHT OF APPEAL WHEN SUCH FUNDS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. STATE FUNDED POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CONTINUATION BASED ON AVAILABILITY OF STATE FUNDS AND THE EMPLOYEE WILL BE TERMINATED WITHOUT RIGHT OF APPEAL WHEN SUCH FUNDS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE Minimum Requirements Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of high school AND two (2) years of full-time paid or volunteer domestic or personal care experience in a setting other than one's own household, one year of which includes providing care to children. Working Conditions Work in a variety of homes and living situations. Must possess a personal motor vehicle, which may be used for work purposes. Licensing and Certification Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment. Pre-Employment Drug Testing Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug test.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Provides in home assistance and instruction to clients and their families regarding homemaking skills, including preparation of healthy and nutritious menus and meals, and basic personal care and hygiene necessary for the health and well-being of the client and other members of the household. Teaches basic parenting skills to clients to enable them to provide proper and necessary care to their children. Teaches and uses behavior modification and related techniques to elicit appropriate behavior from children and adolescents. Acts as a liaison between foster parents and community resource providers. Performs various social service related duties including explaining welfare and social service programs and eligibility procedures. Works with social service and family services personnel to assist families in which children have been neglected, abused, or disabled. Participates in treatment plan meetings. Provides emotional encouragement and support to clients that are in foster homes and/or at risk youth. Completes basic web-based assessments. Participates in providing training and supportive group activities for clients and their families. Sets appointments and helps to ensure that clients attend those appointments. Provides physical care to clients as needed and assists in establishing healthy eating habits and personal hygiene. May perform general residential cleaning and/or shopping tasks; and assist clients in personal financial management. Provides transportation to clients in order to facilitate linking of community, social, and medical services, the needs of the family and their case plan. Assists in planning daily routines for family members, including work and play activities, in order to establish a responsible, balanced and orderly family living environment. Observes and identifies abnormal behavior, neglect or abuse within the family unit and reports observations to supervisor; works with social service staff in referring clients to appropriate agencies for assistance and complete necessary referral forms for services. Accesses required medical information and records on behalf of DFS clients when necessary. Observes client behavior and environment and identifies deterioration or improvement in the client’s lifestyle as well as evidence of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or isolation; reports observations to the supervisor. Prepares reports of time worked, mileage and services provided to clients. Drives a personal or county vehicle to render in-home services and provide transportation for clients.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mobility to work in a typical home setting, use standard cleaning supplies and equipment, perform basic housekeeping tasks, and to drive a motor vehicle for travel to client residences and to run errands; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
