Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor ensures that Gregory Packaging’s high-speed, automated processing, filling, and packaging equipment, including aseptic lines, is maintained so production and quality standards are met. The role creates and carries out maintenance strategies, manages the maintenance software and preventive maintenance program, oversees spare parts inventory, and trains plant technicians.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The supervisor troubleshoots equipment and supports operators on the floor, leads maintenance teams and outside contractors, and uses the company’s national parts system, connected to all facilities, to reduce downtime and maximize machine reliability, efficiency, and equipment life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance Program & Planning

· Oversee the plant’s maintenance program to keep equipment and machinery running properly.

· Develop and optimize preventive maintenance practices for automated filling machines and processing equipment.

· Set up and manage the maintenance management software.

· Develop and carry out work schedules for plant maintenance teams, adjusting to changing priorities.

· Monitor and improve Production Machine Mechanical Efficiency (MME).

· Communicate scheduled downtime to affected departments.

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

· Perform and oversee regular and preventive electrical and mechanical maintenance on processing, filling, and packaging equipment.

· Respond to line calls, support operators, and work to eliminate unscheduled downtime.

· Analyze equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

· Troubleshoot and perform minor programming on Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including ladder logic.

· Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Team, Vendors & Projects

· Support maintenance, electrical, automation, and hydraulic work teams.

· Provide technical training to managers and team members, and assess and build the plant’s technical skills.

· Coordinate and manage work by outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.

· Manage electrical and mechanical projects and equipment upgrades.

· Maintain organized parts storage, use the national parts system, and manage vendor accounts for cost-effective parts replenishment.

· Help the Quality department keep the plant audit-ready.

· Communicate effectively with all plant personnel.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

· Two years of aseptic processing experience.

· Experience diagnosing the root causes of equipment downtime and putting preventive measures in place.

· Experience developing preventive maintenance programs for automated filling and processing equipment.

· Experience maintaining automated guided vehicles (AGVs) is a plus.

· Anhydrous ammonia refrigeration experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Working knowledge of maintenance management software setup and functionality.

· Ability to troubleshoot and program Allen-Bradley PLCs and read ladder logic.

· General mechanical shop skills, including lathes, end mills, drill presses, hydraulic presses, tap and die, and gear pullers.

· Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.

· Knowledge of parts storage processes and vendor account management.

· Understanding of business needs and maintenance’s role in meeting them.

· Strong communication and prioritization skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency.

· Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, automated environment.

· Available to work off-shift, respond to plant emergencies, and provide on-call support after hours.
