Records Officer

This position will be in the Lane County Jail.

Records Officers are utilized in both corrections and the administrative division. Records Officers will perform entry level technical clerical work in the Police Services or Corrections Divisions of the Department of Sheriff's Office, and to perform related duties as assigned.

The Sheriffs Office, committed to justice and integrity, is sworn to protect and honored to serve the residents and visitors of Lane County.

The Sheriffs Office provides an array of correctional services including a jail, a community corrections center (work-release), and out-of-custody programs such as community service and an inmate work crew.

Lane County covers over 4,600 square miles, and is nearly the size of the state of Connecticut. Nearly 300 staff, along with many volunteers, support these services and utilizes land, marine, air and other assets to maximize our response capability.

Schedule: Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including but not limited to days, swing and graveyard; work any day of the week, including but not limited to weekends and holidays. Some overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Training:

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.

Experience:

• One year of responsible clerical experience within law enforcement, corrections, a legal office, or as a paralegal with experience working directly with the public in a position involving multi-task handling, teamwork, responding to irate or upset customers, filing, and cash handling, preferably within the law enforcement or corrections field, or a legal office, or as a paralegal.
• Or an equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Special Requirements:

• Possession of LEDS certification or ability to obtain within six months of initial appointment.
• Possession of or ability to obtain Oregon Notary Public Commission within six months of initial appointment.

• Interview: All eligible candidates will be contacted by phone to schedule a date and time for an interview. You must pass the interview in order to continue in the hiring process.
• Pre-Employment Screen: A phone interview with a background investigator.
• Background Investigation: A thorough background investigation will be conducted which will include a drug screen, and TB test. You must pass the background investigation in order to continue in the hiring process.

If you enroll in the HDHP the County will contribute to your HSA:

For eligible members of unions LCPOA, 626, Admin Pro, and AFSCME Physicians $1,700 for individual coverage and $3,400 for family coverage.

For eligible members of unions AFSCME General, AFSCME Nurses, FOPPO, PAA, and non-represented employees $1,600 for individual coverage and $3,200 for family coverage. Those who complete the requirements to receive the Live Well Credit by November 30, 2026, will receive an additional contribution of $400 individual or $800 family, funded in 2027.

These amounts are prorated based on date of hire. All eligible employees who complete a Health History Risk Assessment (HHRA), Biometric Screening, and Comprehensive Health Review (CHR) at the Live Well Center receive a $20 per month credit. Wellness Clinic - The Live Well Center is for Lane County benefits-eligible employees, spouses and dependents (ages 2 and up) who are enrolled in the Lane County health plan.
