Position Summary The Clinical Development Captain is a full‑time administrative leadership position responsible for advancing provider competency, clinical performance, specialty program development, and high‑acuity clinical readiness across the organization. Unlike traditional EMS leadership roles, this position is not assigned regular ambulance shift coverage, allowing dedicated time to focus on provider development, clinical systems, mentorship, and meaningful improvement initiatives. This role reports to the Clinical Services Division Chief and works closely with the Clinical Quality Captain, Education Captain, and Medical Directors to strengthen clinical performance and help build a high‑performing EMS system capable of exceptional care in both traditional and austere environments. Primary Areas of Responsibility Provider Development & Competency Develop and oversee provider competency systems Coordinate quarterly clinical validation and remediation Support onboarding and clinical development of new providers Provide hands‑on coaching, mentorship, and provider support Specialty Clinical Programs Lead airway program development and oversight Manage ventilator and advanced equipment competency Support high‑acuity and critical care clinical readiness Assist with specialty clinical initiatives and advanced care development Clinical Training & Simulation Develop advanced scenario‑based training Coordinate high‑acuity simulation and specialty training Work with Education and QA teams to address identified clinical gaps Reinforce provider confidence in complex patient care Clinical Program Implementation Support rollout and implementation of new clinical initiatives Develop competency pathways, field resources, and practical tools Assist with clinical process improvement and system advancement Minimum Qualifications National Registry Paramedic (or ability to obtain Utah Paramedic licensure) Critical Care Paramedic certification required (FP-C, CCP-C, UMBC CCEMTP, or equivalent) Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a critical care role, including flight medicine, critical care transport, specialty transport, or high‑acuity interfacility medicine Minimum five (5) years of EMS experience Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, education, training, or quality improvement Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications Previous EMS leadership experience Experience in provider education or competency development Utah EMS Instructor certification (or ability to obtain) Experience with simulation training, QA/QI systems, or clinical program development #J-18808-Ljbffr Stryker Corporation
