PCA- NICU PRN

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the Supervision or direction of a Shift Manager, performs various duties assisting the nursing staff in the treatment and care of patients of all ages, in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the hospital.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program, Certified Nurse Assistant, or equivalent prior experience preferred. Minimum Work Experience: None Required Licenses/Certifications: None Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: General knowledge of basic bedside nursing. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on the physical, psychosocial, education, safety and related criteria appropriate to age of the patients served in assigned area/department. The skills and knowledge to provide such care are gained through education, training, and/or experience. Preferred Qualification: None

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program. Complies with all HIPAA standards. Perform routine tasks under the supervision of license nurse. Take patient's temperate, pulse, and respiration rate. Take blood pressure and report to the nurse abnormal results. Observe patient's physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Observe fluid intake and output. Empty bedpans and change dirty linens. Follow proper procedures for lifting and moving patients. General knowledge of basic bedside nursing. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on the physical, psychosocial, education, safety and related criteria appropriate to age of the patients served in assigned area/department. The skills and knowledge to provide such care is gained through education,training, and/or experience. Refers to policies and procedures when appropriate. Reports observation of changes in patients condition promptly and accurately to care giver or shift manager. Assists care givers in performing routine elements of patient care and patients of all ages. Performs daily assigned duties, i.e., linen, water, dirty utility room, routine work station clearing, etc. in timely manner. Schedules and completes tasks with minimal supervision and in a timely manner. Is adaptable and responsive to change (including floor assignments).
