Role Description The Cytologist at TidalHealth is a full-time, on-site role based in Salisbury, MD. This position is responsible for preparing and microscopically examining cytologic specimens, including gynecologic and non-gynecologic samples, to identify cellular abnormalities and assist in the diagnosis of disease. Daily tasks include screening slides, correlating clinical information with laboratory findings, documenting results accurately, and consulting with pathologists on suspicious or complex cases. The Cytologist also adheres to established quality control procedures, participates in proficiency testing, and ensures all work complies with regulatory and institutional standards. Collaboration with laboratory staff, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals is essential to support timely, accurate patient care. Qualifications Cytology expertise, including preparation, staining, and microscopic evaluation of gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens. Strong analytical and diagnostic skills to recognize cellular abnormalities and correlate findings with clinical information. Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission). Proficiency with laboratory information systems, basic computer skills, and documentation in electronic medical records. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with pathologists, laboratory personnel, and clinical teams. Detail orientation, organizational skills, and ability to manage workload while meeting turnaround times. Graduation from an accredited cytotechnology or cytology program; ASCP or equivalent cytology certification preferred or required per state/regulatory guidelines. Previous clinical laboratory or hospital-based cytology experience is highly beneficial; familiarity with oncology and women’s health is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
