Social Media & Content Marketing Intern

Scrub Lou is looking for a Social Media & Content Marketing Intern who wants real, hands-on marketing experience.

You’ll help take ownership of our social media — coming up with ideas, filming at jobs around Louisville, editing and posting content, engaging with our local audience, and finding creative ways to generate leads.

This isn’t a shadowing internship. You’ll have creative freedom, work directly with the owner, and get to see how your work impacts a growing local business.

What You’ll Do

• Create content. Come up with ideas and turn them into content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and other platforms.
• Film in the field. Travel to cleaning jobs around Louisville to capture before-and-afters, transformations, behind-the-scenes footage, team content, and other opportunities.
• Edit and publish. Turn raw footage into engaging short-form videos and posts, write captions and hooks, and publish consistently.
• Help run our social media. Take an active role in what we post, when we post, and how Scrub Lou presents itself online.
• Engage locally. Interact with followers, local accounts, community pages, and relevant Facebook groups.
• Generate leads. Look beyond likes and followers and help us find creative ways to turn social media attention into actual customers.
• Follow trends. Stay on top of trends, formats, sounds, and ideas that we can adapt to our brand.
• Track results. Pay attention to views, reach, engagement, follower growth, leads, and other metrics to understand what's working.
• Bring ideas. We don't want someone waiting to be told exactly what to do. We want you to experiment, pitch ideas, and help us get better.

We're looking for someone who:

• Is creative and genuinely understands social media
• Regularly uses platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook
• Understands what makes people stop scrolling
• Is comfortable filming with a phone and capturing content in real-world environments
• Has basic short-form video editing skills or is willing to learn quickly
• Is familiar with CapCut, Canva, Premiere Pro, or similar tools
• Can write strong hooks, captions, and social posts
• Is comfortable interacting with people
• Can work independently and manage their time
• Takes initiative instead of waiting for step-by-step instructions
• Is dependable and follows through
• Has reliable transportation and can travel throughout the Louisville area

Current students studying marketing, communications, advertising, media, business, or a related field are encouraged to apply, but your major matters less to us than your creativity and willingness to learn.

Previous content creation, photography, videography, social media, or marketing experience is a plus, even if you've only done it for yourself, a student organization, or a personal project.

What You'll Get

This is designed to give you experience you can actually use after college. You'll gain hands-on experience in content creation, video editing, social media management, organic marketing, lead generation, analytics, and brand building.

You'll work directly with the owner of Scrub Lou and have the freedom to test your own ideas instead of simply completing assignments.

You'll also be able to walk away with a portfolio of real content and actual performance data showing what your work accomplished.

Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours per week

Location: Louisville, KY

Schedule: Flexible around your class schedule

Travel: Local travel is required for some filming, with business mileage reimbursed.

This is not a fully remote position. Some work can be done remotely, but you need to be available to visit Scrub Lou jobs and other locations around Louisville to capture content.
