Garden Center Associate

Purpose: Garden Center Sales team members will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting customers in their purchases, restocking plant inventories, maintaining plant health and appearance, and answering customer questions. Direction will be provided by the Garden Center Retail Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Working directly on sales floor, connecting with customers, and supporting fellow staff members in the selection of products to provide horticultural, landscape, and/or gardening solutions.
• Having or learning a strong knowledge base of our products and services to best help customers.
• Provide support and answer customer questions, provide information and process orders.
• Assist with carryout and cart retrieval when needed.
• Provide accurate, timely and friendly service to both Applewood Customers and potential customers.
• Maintain a positive attitude when working with customers and coworkers.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

• Strong work ethic – willing to learn new things daily.
• Must be able to read and write English, perform basic math skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrates ability to follow through on work direction.
• Ability to perform routine tasks to high standards, within a seasonally changing environment.
• This position requires standing/walking on hard surfaces during the entire shift, working at a fast pace.
• Demonstrates excellent customer relations and communication skills- required.
• Flexible schedule to work required shifts – weekends included.
• Knowledge of plants or experience in this field is a plus but not required.
• Must be able to work weekends as needed
