Head Coach Girls Wrestling - Bellevue High School 2026-27

Position Purpose The position of Head Coach is responsible for ensuring that all assistants (contracted or volunteer), as well as the Head Coach, know the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), KINGCO Conference, and the Bellevue School District policies. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Has responsibility and leadership for overall supervision of the program at all levels Organizes program so that it is consistent with the district and high school philosophy, goals and objectives Strives to build good sportsmanship and develop good public relations in the school and community Follows all rules, policies and procedures of the League, District, and school Prepares public information releases regarding the sport Complies with WIAA coaching clock hour program Remains abreast of new knowledge, ideas and techniques related to the sport Assists the Athletic Director in scheduling events for the sport (usually non‑league contests and tournaments) Drafts and submits a budget for the sport and follows rules for incurring and tracking expenditures and revenues Manages practice sessions within the time agreed upon with the Athletic Director and supervises the locker room Keeps records for the Athletic Director and/or principal Attends all meetings (district and league) pertaining to the sport Ensures general health, welfare and safety of athletes Is aware of all safety procedures necessary for the specific sport and relays these procedures to assistant coaches, athletes and parents Administers a student interest survey/evaluation at season end and reports results to the Athletic Director Writes an annual program evaluation and makes recommendations for improvement Conducts and files an Assistant Coach’s Evaluation Assigns duties of assistant coaches (volunteer and contracted) Assures that all rules, procedures and policies are followed Performs general upkeep, protection, distribution, collection and inventory of all equipment Use of school facilities and property is appropriate Organizes, directs and supervises practice sessions and dressing room facilities any time they are used by team members Rides the bus to/from all events and follows rules governing in‑out‑of‑state travel Reporting Relationships Reports to and is directly supervised by the Athletic Director. Education & Experience High School diploma or equivalent Must be at least 19 years of age Hold current first aid and CPR card; proof of valid cards must be provided prior to job offer Licensing Requirements None. Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Medium work involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. May work outdoors in inclement weather and may require physical mobility to move through a school campus, including stairs and indoor/outdoor spaces. Conditions Of Employment 2025‑26 Athletic Salary Schedule; $7,964 for the season. This position is not eligible for benefits.
