Summary:

This role involves maintaining adequate supplies, medications, and medical gas tanks within the respiratory care department. Responsibilities include managing dirty equipment and processing it, administering medications via nebulizer, and assisting with intermittent non-invasive patient care. This position does not involve critical care or care of unstable patients.

Education:

Candidates must be enrolled students in good standing in an AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program affiliated with a regional healthcare system. Verification of good standing and successful completion of a competency evaluation certifying proficiency in respiratory care procedures, as defined by the relevant state respiratory care board, is required.

Certifications:

BLS certification from the American Heart Association and registration as a Respiratory Care Assistant (RCA) with the state respiratory care board are mandatory.

Experience and Requirements:

The ideal candidate must remain calm and composed in stressful situations and when interacting with coworkers, patients, and visitors. Strong oral communication skills, manual dexterity for operating and assembling equipment, good visual acuity, and physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods are essential. The role also requires the ability to position and move patients and push heavy equipment to bedside locations. Exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials may occur, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
