Job TitleMonday-Friday 9a-5p (including 30 minutes unpaid lunch break)Duration: 17-week assignmentResponsibilitiesOperate and maintain echocardiogram equipmentInspect echocardiogram machine electrodes to ensure cleanliness and proper working order; report malfunctions immediatelyEnsure machine and cart contain adequate supplies; report low par levelsRespond to STATS within 15 minutesObtain echocardiograms as ordered and schedule patients in appropriate orderMatch patient I.D. to request and explain procedures to patientsPosition patients and select appropriate transducersUse scanner over specified body area, adjusting equipment to focusMake video copy images as requested and document testsReschedule testing if necessary due to difficultiesDevelop prints using automatic printer processing equipmentPrepare data and keep finished tape on machine until complete study is read by cardiologistReview test results with physicians and log all echocardiograms performedAssist in procedures like pericardiocentesis, maintaining sterile techniqueMaintain hospital standards and report any violations immediatelyPerform various clerical tasks and assist in cross-training of staffMaintain department records and respond to phone calls appropriatelyDevelop and maintain a high level of customer serviceIdentify and resolve equipment problems; recognize patient problems and call for clinical assistance if neededPerform other job-related duties as assignedRequirementsCompletion of an Echocardiogram Training ProgramEchocardiography CCI or ARMS Echo CertificationRequired to obtain ICAEL recognized certificationMinimum 2 years of experience as a Technician IBasic clerical skills such as filing and light typing at 25 wpmHuman relations skills for dealing with patients and familiesGood oral communication skills to explain procedures and discuss resultsOrganizational skills to ensure proper stocking of equipment and suppliesPreferred SkillsDisplays courtesy, tact, and diplomacy when dealing with staff, patients, and visitorsOffers assistance in attaining goals or completing tasks when possible
