Lead Data Engineer

Fiberutilities Group (FG) is hiring a Lead Data Engineer for a hybrid role in Cedar Rapids, IA . This position is a hands‑on leadership opportunity focused on building and continuously improving FG’s data integration ecosystem, with a clear emphasis on integration architecture, pipeline reliability, data quality, and reusable engineering standards. What you’ll be doing You will own the end‑to‑end design and evolution of FG’s data integrations, guiding how external data is ingested, transformed, and delivered for downstream use. Your work will span architecture, implementation, and ongoing governance of the standards that keep external data domains consistent and trustworthy. Lead the end‑to‑end architecture and design of data integrations Design, implement, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and load external data into Azure SQL Define and enforce data modeling standards , schemas, and data contracts for external data domains Implement data quality frameworks to support dependable datasets Apply ML and advanced methods to improve data cleansing, matching, and enrichment Establish best practices , coding standards, and review processes for data engineering work What you bring 7+ years of data architecture/engineering experience Strong experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines in an Azure-centric environment 2+ years of senior or leadership experience Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience Tools and technologies Azure SQL , ETL , ELT , ML Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off 401K plan with company match Life insurance Eligible for annual bonus Short-term and long-term disability insurance 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Retirement plan Vision insurance Work location Hybrid remote in Cedar Rapids, IA 52401 .
