Job Summary Acute Care Nurse Responsibilities The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act and utilizes therapeutic communication to maintain a safe environment. Plan individualized patient care with an interdisciplinary approach and participate in performance improvement activities. When acting in charge nurse role, make staff assignments based on patient need and skill, serve as a clinical resource, and respond in a timely manner to information requests or follow-up with physicians, staff, or patients. You will assess patient care needs, carry out physician orders, administer prescribed medications, change dressings, cleanse wounds, and monitor vital signs. You will monitor, record, and communicate patient condition using appropriate documentation systems. You will educate patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary care planning team and identify nursing problems to plan care with an interdisciplinary approach. What you will do in this role Assess plans and evaluate patient care needs and carry out physician orders. Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, cleanse wounds, and monitor vital signs. Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition using computerized documentation systems. Instruct and educate patients and families as part of a Multidisciplinary Care Planning team. Identify nursing problems and plan individualized patient care using an interdisciplinary approach.
