Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: NC or Compact License Pending OK for Submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Must-Have: - IV Start and Telemetry experience - Experience with pre and post-procedure cardiac patients - Ability to manage cardiac drips - Experience with high-volume patient turnover Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly turn into a cancellation or DNR. The weekend schedule includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This is a challenging and busy unit that requires similar experience with patient ratios and acuity. Traveler experience is accepted, including first-time travelers. Local candidates are also accepted, with a rate difference. The target patient ratios are 1:5-6 but may fluctuate based on unit needs. Travelers must be comfortable managing up to 6 patients during surge situations. The role accepts 13-26 week contracts. The shift is 12 hours, from 18:45 - 07:15, including weekend coverage. Only 36 hours can be offered for this role. Call requirements are in place; frequency depends on patient census. Float requirements may apply as needed. The unit primarily handles cardiac and stroke patients. Stable pre/post care is provided for procedures such as pacemaker implantation and cardiac catheterization. Staff may encounter a variety of cardiac conditions including unstable angina and CHF. Multiple medication drips will be administered, including Cardiazem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone. The unit operates in a fast-paced environment with a high turnover of patients, typically 78 to 90 patients a week. Nurses can expect to adjust their assignments frequently. A team lead is available to assist with admissions and discharges. The unit may house COVID positive patients, utilizing specific equipment and protocols for their care. Specialty skills such as titrating cardiac drips are required. The nurse must show a teamwork approach and adhere to behavioral expectations in all interactions. Call-off policies are strictly enforced. Candidates must comply with floating requirements within or near the facility. Pre-start modules, which are non-billable, are required prior to start and annually. Candidates should complete these modules online.
