Banking Services Operations Associate IV - ACH

Overview:

Processes and balances incoming and outgoing Automated Clearinghouse (ACH) files. Processes ACH disputes and government reclamations in a timely and accurate manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Process ACH windows for customers including origination file preparation, manual kick to system for processing, balance, and evaluation of suspends and unmatched files in a timely and accurate manner.
• Verify and process Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for changes, additions, or deletions in Paperless Entry Processing (PEP) in a timely and accurate manner.
• Process guidance and gather applicable approvals within 5 day guidance overlines for unresolved online transactions, deletions, reversals, and corporate reclaims in a timely and accurate manner.
• Reconcile Bank settlement for Federal Reserve Bank and Electronic Payments Network (EPN).
• Process returned transactions such as Insufficient Funds (NSF), closed accounts, deaths, and blocked accounts.
• Complete Automatic Transfer Generator (ATG) verification and set-up.
• Process exceptions and respond to government reclamations within required timeframe.
• Research and process late returns and Power of Attorney (POA) documents.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Proficient working knowledge of ACH request processing across multiple business lines, including retail and commercial.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:

No supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience Required:

• Associate’s degree, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 3 years’ general work experience.
• Proven verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Minimum of 1 year prior experience processing ACH requests in the commercial and retail space
• Proficient in the use of Personal Computers including word processing, spreadsheet, presentations and industry-specific software.

Physical Requirements:

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $20.55 - $34.25 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
