PRN Registered Nurse- Emergency Department

Work Shift Various (United States of America) Job Summary The RN Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. The role is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through Wellstar’s Shared Governance Model, and guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence‑based practice. The RN must be licensed, adhere to the Georgia Professional Nursing Practice Act, and uphold the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics standards set by the American Nurses Association. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Exemplary Practice and Outcomes Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and analytical/critical thinking. Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care adapted to population‑specific characteristics and cultural diversity. Partners with patients and significant others through bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned teaching, keeping patients’ goals at the center of the plan of care. Practices current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes a professional care delivery model. Utilizes diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods (interdisciplinary rounds, case review, etc.), completes timely documentation, and fosters a respectful, inclusive environment. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility, supports recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members, and participates in performance improvement activities and shared governance at all levels. Professional Development and Initiative Completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific education. Serves as a preceptor or mentor for professional nurses and other disciplines, fostering a qualified workforce and modeling professional nursing practice. Evidence Based Practice and Research Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. Participates in value analysis and clinical decision‑making, collects data, poses relevant clinical questions, consults experts, and uses appropriate resources to address practice questions. Resources and Support Plans for patient care across the continuum during direct patient care. Develops protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and the health care team, aiming to improve outcomes such as reducing readmissions, avoidable days, and adverse events, while supporting efficient use of human and material resources. Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all WellStar Health System policies and standards. Required Minimum Education Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Bachelors Nursing (preferred) Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC‑ALS – American Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS‑I – ACLS Instructor or ACLS‑P – ACLS Provisional (180 days) within 180 days BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support Instructor RN – Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN‑COMPACT – RN Multi‑state Compact ATCN – Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses Certified or TNCC – Trauma Nurse Core Course Required Minimum Experience Minimum 10 years of current direct patient care experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
