About this Opportunity

Schedule/Hours: Tues-Sat 9:00 - 6:00 pm (40 hours)

This position is responsible for:

Planning, administering, monitoring, and evaluating the day-to-day operations of a single Thrift Store with a limited staff ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures; processing, displaying, and pricing donated items to ensure a reasonable financial return on the sale of store items; assisting customers in a polite and friendly manner; preparing store displays that are attractive, neat, and orderly; rotating and restocking store merchandise to ensure quick turnover; ensuring the accountability and security of all store items and funds. Planning, scheduling, and assigning, and evaluating work of Store and warehouse/sorting room personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administers and monitors the day-to-day operations of a small Thrift Store; serves as lead worker to volunteers, beneficiaries, and/or subordinate store personnel; trains and instructs staff in the proper methods and procedures for performing work; inspects work in progress and upon completion for accuracy and completeness.
• Plans, schedules, assigns, and evaluates work of Store Clerks, Sorting Room Workers, and other employees of the Thrift Store; instructs and trains employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with established store policies and procedures; assists employees in resolving operational or personnel problems; evaluates employees performance and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.
• Assists customers by explaining store policy and responding to questions regarding the pricing and/or purchasing of items; ensures that all customers visiting the store have a pleasant experience.
• Assists customers who are donating items to The Salvation Army; directs customers to the proper loading/unloading area, may assist with hauling donations to the storage area; prepares and provides tax receipts as needed.
• Prepares and delivers bank deposits

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather.

What we are looking for in you

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Three years progressively responsible experience working in a retail store environment with at least one year experience in a supervisory capacity OR
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid Drivers Licensee
