Job Title: Mechanical & Robotics Technician (RME)

pay: 32 an hour to 42 an hour

Job Description

This temporary Senior Mechanical and Robotics Technician role supports the Operations Maintenance team by repairing, maintaining, and improving automated material handling and robotic systems in a large, high-speed distribution facility. You will work on conveyors, pneumatic systems, and advanced automation equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and control issues to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain material handling equipment and automated conveyor systems, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components.
• Support the Operations Maintenance team in sustaining high uptime of conveyors, pneumatic systems, and other automation equipment throughout the building.
• Install and troubleshoot photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers, and encoders.
• Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems to quickly resolve equipment issues and minimize downtime.
• Complete assigned preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and wiring, following established procedures and safety standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose issues and perform accurate repairs.
• Use PLC controls and related systems to identify faults and assist in troubleshooting automated equipment.
• Provide clear feedback on tasks and findings within the Preventive Maintenance program, including suggestions for process and equipment improvements.
• Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work performed, track maintenance activities, and update equipment records.
• Apply knowledge of material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with team members and operations staff to prioritize work, support production needs, and ensure safe and reliable equipment performance.
• Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Skills

• 4+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls.
• 4+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
• 4+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles.
• 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics of MHE systems.
• 4+ years of experience working with MHE safety standards in accordance with OEM and safety guidelines.
• 3+ years of experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• 1+ year of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with automated conveyor systems, including preventive maintenance and repair.
• Proficiency in working with PLC controls, motors, wiring, and control systems.
• Ability to read, understand, and apply information from schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with conveyor systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with installing and maintaining sensors and control devices such as photo eyes, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, and relays.
• Experience working with servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers, and encoders.
• Comfort working in a data-driven environment where performance metrics and expectations are clearly tracked.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and receive formal training on high-speed automation and robotic equipment.
• Willingness to work any 10-hour shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Work Environment

You will work in a large distribution facility equipped with high-speed automation and advanced robotic systems, where reliability and safety are top priorities. The role involves significant time on your feet, including walking approximately 10,000 steps per day and moving items up to 49 pounds as part of normal duties. Performance is monitored through clear metrics and data, providing transparency into expectations without micromanagement. The facility operates multiple schedules, and all technicians must be open to working any 10-hour shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support round-the-clock operations in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Summerville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.65 - $42.65/hr.
