This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a Vice President, Mechanical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in Irvine, CA.This leadership role is ideal for a licensed Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in healthcare facility design who brings a strong combination of technical leadership, client engagement, and business development experience. You will play a key role in driving project delivery while supporting the continued growth of WSP’s healthcare practice in Southern California.WSP’s Property & Buildings business continues to expand across the healthcare sector, supporting innovative and complex facilities that respond to evolving patient care and infrastructure needs.Your ImpactProvide strategic and technical leadership for mechanical engineering design across complex healthcare projectsLead and oversee the full project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction and close-outDrive client relationships and business development efforts, including pursuits, proposals, and market strategyOversee design of HVAC systems, central utility plants, hydronic systems, and plumbing systemsEnsure compliance with healthcare codes, standards, and California regulatory requirementsLead multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality, coordinated project deliveryManage project performance, including scope, schedule, budget, and profitabilityServe as a trusted advisor to clients, strengthening long-term relationships and identifying growth opportunitiesMentor and develop engineering staff, contributing to team growth and succession planningSupport technical reviews, contract negotiations, and presentations with clients and stakeholdersWho You AreRequired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline12+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering design for building systemsDemonstrated expertise in healthcare project delivery (hospitals, medical centers, or similar facilities)Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredStrong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical infrastructure, and healthcare-specific codes and standardsProven experience in project leadership and client-facing rolesTrack record of supporting or leading business development and project pursuitsProficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and related engineering toolsPreferred QualificationsExperience leading large, complex healthcare programs or portfoliosEstablished client relationships within the Southern California healthcare marketExperience managing multi-disciplinary teams across regional or national projectsLEED AP or sustainability credentialsExperience contributing to strategic growth initiatives within an engineering organizationWSP Benefits:WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
