Cybersecurity - Intern

We are currently seeking a Cyber Security Intern to support our team at the DOE Office of Legacy Management (DOE LM) sites. Responsibilities Technical report writing and documentation. Provide information and systems security support supervised by other team members. Analyze security logs and reports from firewalls and boundary protection devices to detect, investigate, and report on potential threats to system confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Identify vulnerabilities that are applicable to systems and applications to assess their severity and urgency. Work with other IT staff to track corrective action, resolution progress, and mitigation of vulnerabilities. Conduct research on emerging cyber threats and threat actors to help develop and refine threat intelligence campaigns. Assist in developing materials for security awareness programs. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with cybersecurity controls to ensure their effective operation. Support operations and maintenance of cybersecurity toolsets. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program pursuing a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Experience: No experience required. License: Valid Driver’s License. Certification: No professional certification required. U.S. Citizenship: Yes. Required Screenings Drug Screen Physical Assessment (if applicable) Background Check (Criminal, Civil, Educational, Previous Employment, etc.) Driver Record Screen (for positions requiring on-the-job driving) Skills & Abilities Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Excel and Word. Basic understanding of computer networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux).
