Chief Physician and Surgeon

CCHCS seeks to fill a Permanent/Full-time Chief Physician and Surgeon (Chief P&S) position in the Medical Services, Clinical Policy and Professional Workforce Services.

Under the general direction of the Deputy Medical Executive (DME) Clinical Policy & Professional Workforce Services, the Chief Physician and Surgeon (Chief P&S) of Clinical Policy & Professional Workforce oversees CCHCS Educational Partnership Program (EPP) and Provider Practice Program including activities related to recruitment, credentialing, onboarding, continuing medical education, and practice evaluation and improvement. The Chief P&S supervises provider staff and oversees clinical system initiatives that support medical providers and other clinicians in delivery of evidence-based, equitable and cost-effective services.

The Chief P&S will work with other headquarters leaders to develop and implement an annual statewide healthcare education plan and facilitate approval and delivery of relevant and effective healthcare education to providers and other staff. The Chief P&S is responsible for updating onboarding and orientation activities for new medical providers and ensuring continued California Medical Association accreditation of the CCHCS CME program. In addition, the CP&S serves as a subject matter expert for the credentialing and professional practice evaluation programs. The position has a hybrid work schedule between remote and in-office locations.
