Principal Scientist, Translational Biology

Cytokinetics

Cytokinetics seeks a computational scientist to lead translational biomarker discovery in cardiac and skeletal muscle disease using human genetics, multi-omics, and AI/ML methods. The role bridges discovery research with clinical applications to identify disease biomarkers and patient risk factors.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and single-cell data to trace genetic variation effects in muscle disease
  • Discover and validate diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers using omics and clinical data from biobanks and patient cohorts
  • Develop AI/ML methods linking molecular profiles with imaging and clinical phenotypes for precision medicine patient subgroups
  • Investigate disease heterogeneity and genotype-phenotype discordance to uncover modifier pathways and mechanistic hypotheses
  • Lead translational applications of large language models and agents with appropriate benchmarking and evaluation

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Human Genetics, Bioinformatics, or related field with 6+ years post-doctoral or industry experience
  • Expertise in large-scale genomic dataset analysis, including GWAS and sequencing data
  • Deep knowledge of transcriptomics, proteomics, or single-cell analysis with cross-data integration capability
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python with strong foundation in study design and AI/ML evaluation
  • Track record translating human molecular data into disease mechanisms or biomarker strategies
  • Interest in applying AI tools including LLMs to translational research and cross-functional leadership ability

Compensation: $202,500-$236,250 base
