Position Title: Warehouse Assistant

Wage: $18.00/hour

Shift: 1st

Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm

QPS Employment Group is hiring a 1st shift Warehouse Assistant for a company in Cedar Rapids, IA. The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily outbound shipping process by accurately picking, packing, processing, and preparing customer orders for shipment. This role helps ensure orders are shipped on time while maintaining inventory accuracy, completing shipping documentation, and following company quality and safety standards. The position also assists with inventory movement, receiving, and general warehouse operations as needed.

Warehouse Assistant Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Accurately pick, verify, pack, and prepare customer orders, manufacturing orders, service shipments, and internal requests for shipment
- Process shipments using shipping software, ERP/WMS systems, barcode scanners, and carrier portals while maintaining accurate transaction records
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, customs paperwork, commercial invoices, and customer-specific shipping documents
- Stage, label, palletize, audit, and organize outbound shipments for parcel, LTL, freight, expedited, and international carriers
- Coordinate shipping priorities by reviewing order deadlines, carrier schedules, and special handling requirements
- Identify and communicate shipping discrepancies, inventory issues, damaged materials, documentation errors, and shipment concerns
- Work closely with Purchasing, Production, Customer Support, Quality, Finance, and other departments to resolve shipping issues and maintain customer satisfaction
- Assist with receiving, put-away, inventory transfers, cycle counts, and warehouse organization as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area following 5S and warehouse safety standards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve shipping accuracy, efficiency, and workflow
- Perform other warehouse duties as assigned

Warehouse Assistant Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1-3 years of warehouse, shipping, inventory, fulfillment, or related experience preferred
- Experience using ERP/WMS systems, shipping software, and carrier portals is preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately process orders and shipping documentation
- Ability to read work instructions, shipping paperwork, and inventory information
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and customer service
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the work shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and lifting throughout the day
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds regularly with assistance when necessary
- Ability to safely perform repetitive material handling tasks in a warehouse environment
- Equipment used include ERP/WMS systems, Shipping software, Barcode scanners, Label printers, Computers and Microsoft Office Suite, Parcel and freight carrier systems, Pallet jacks and other standard warehouse material handling equipment (as required)
- Overtime may be required based on business demands, customer order volume, or shipping deadlines
