Quality Source Inspector

Introduction Business Unit: Cubic Defense. The role involves inspection operations on software and hardware items using applicable specifications. The position is onsite in Fort Walton Beach, FL and works under general supervision. Responsibilities Work closely with Procurement to resolve supplier certification and documentation discrepancies to the Purchase Order. Interpret and review blueprints, wiring lists, quality standards, manufacturers’ catalogs, customer specifications, reference manuals, and purchase order requirements to determine hardware quality and inspect status of electronic hardware, parts and assemblies. Assist in resolving problems by meeting with Purchasing, Engineering, Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Engineering. Accept or reject hardware accordingly, and prepare the associated documentation by completing the Receiving Report, Shop Traveler, and/or issuing Non‑Conformance (NC) for unacceptable hardware. Verify accuracy and completeness of associated software, perform verification of software by witnessing test equipment, and perform dynamic tests on individual items or assemblies. Perform in‑process, final, source inspection, shipping inspection and engineering area inspections as required. Conduct preliminary reviews of non‑conforming hardware for disposition and coordinate presentation of accepted items to customer representatives. Use inspection equipment such as microscopes, multimeters, calipers, micrometers, and other tools. Assist in preparation of cost proposals and task estimates; initiate procedures for special inspection equipment and formulate inspection aids as directed. Perform data review, audits, and diversified complex tasks at field locations. Provide direction and guidance to Receiving and Shipping Inspection on acceptance criteria to engineering requirements. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and at least four years of experience in quality control disciplines. Hands‑on industry experience in mechanical and electrical inspections and work with Quality Management Systems. Knowledgeable of Electrical Static Discharge (ESD, e.g., EIA 625) for handling electronic assemblies and components. Able to read, interpret and apply electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, quality standards and reference manuals. Proficient in the use of quality control test methods and equipment, including solder inspection to IPC 610 standards. Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to follow written and verbal directions. Physical ability to climb stairs, walk, stand, sit for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs. Proficiency with personal computer for time‑keeping data input and Quality Assurance metrics. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for communication with department and inter‑departmental areas. Travel may be required, domestic and international.
