Civil Engineer Position

This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 9905 of Title 5 U.S. Code. The employee serves as a Civil Engineer and team member of the PFPA ATFP assessment team providing expertise in the evaluation of infrastructure and structural dynamics of the Pentagon Facilities within the NCR. Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:

• The employee analyzes the infrastructure and structural engineering requirements of the Pentagon Facilities being assessed, and develops the conceptual design and quantitative criteria for complex structural systems that involve the effects of dynamic loads or the use of very highly complex frameworks.
• Determines facility elements involving advanced principles, using calculations and materials in novel and/or difficult situations, and resolves controversial economic and scheduling problems.
• Conducts and validates special studies including economic analyses in the structural engineering environment to determine need for modernization or alteration to meet mission changes and new or increased demands.
• Reviews preliminary and final engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates accomplished under architect-engineer contracts, or by another government agency.
