Summary Statement The Criminal Division seeks a Deputy Attorney General to serve as Assistant Unit Head (AUH) for the New Castle County Felony Trail Unit. Career Ladder FY26 salary ranges for Pay Grades 12 through 20 are as follows: Pay Grade 12 (DAG I): \$79,508.00 – \$87,458.00 Pay Grade 14 (DAG II): \$92,259.00 – \$96,760.00 Pay Grade 16 (DAG III): \$101,898.00 – \$104,137.00 Pay Grade 18 (DAG IV): \$112,013.00 – \$117,440.00 Pay Grade 20 (DAG V): \$125,885.00 – \$135,154.00 Essential Functions This Assistant Unit Head (AUH) will serve with two other AUHs in assisting with the management of the New Castle County Felony Trial Unit, which consists of 15 Deputy Attorneys General, six Legal Assistants, and six Legal Administrative Specialists. The unit prosecutes all felonies that occur in New Castle County except for homicides, sex offenses, and those related to domestic violence. An AUH must maintain a strong working relationship with police agencies in New Castle County, the court, and the defense bar; be available to mentor and train other Deputy Attorneys General and administrative staff; oversee cases and operations within the unit; conduct other managerial tasks as needed; observe Deputy Attorneys General in trial and other court proceedings to provide feedback and assist if issues arise. In addition to managerial responsibilities, the AUH will manage their own caseload and bring on other Deputy Attorneys General to try cases that proceed to trial. Job Requirements A candidate for this leadership position should have the skills necessary to effectively manage staff, engage Deputy Attorneys General in trainings, and have a high proficiency in criminal prosecution. This candidate must be able to evaluate cases, determine resolutions, anticipate legal issues, and research accurately and effectively. Delaware Bar membership is required.
