Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Evenings Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 3 years in specialty License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, COVID Vaccine Must-Have: 3-5 years of experience in an Emergency Room setting. Level III trauma experience or above preferred. Description: The unit comprises 15 beds with a 6-bed fast track that operates from 9 am to 10 pm. Typically, the nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4, depending on patient acuity. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner (First Net). A charge nurse is present and may take a small patient load if needed. Nurse aides and a unit secretary are available 24/7, with a tech on duty for 20 hours each day. Weekend work is required every other week, and holiday work is part of the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy. There is centralized monitoring for patients using Phillips telemetry. Ventilator management is required. One physician is available in the house at all times, with mid-level practitioners from 9 am to 2 am. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts can vary, including 7-7, 9-9, 10-10, 11-11, and 2-2. Schedules are created 30-45 days in advance. Floating to other units is not required. Floor-specific orientation is conducted for 2-3 days on the unit. Common diagnoses include strokes, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, and psychiatric patients. The Emergency Room sees approximately 100 patient visits daily, including 500-600 pediatric patients monthly. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done using Cerner.
