About the Opportunity
Atlas NextWave is seeking an experienced Automation Service Engineer to join our team in the maritime sector. You will work on automation and electrical systems onboard vessels, supporting new build projects, upgrades, testing, commissioning, and ongoing service to ensure system reliability and performance.
This role involves hands-on work both in shipyards and onboard vessels.
What You'll Do
- Work on various projects in the maritime sector, including new builds and system upgrades
- Perform testing and commissioning of automation and electrical systems onboard vessels
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in PLC, SCADA/HMI, and control systems
- Provide service and support activities onboard ships
- Execute fault finding, repairs, and system optimization
- Support the new build department during installation, testing, and handover phases
- Collaborate with engineering teams, shipyards, and customers
What You Need
- Degree in Industrial Automation, Electronics, Maritime Engineering, Control Systems, or similar
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in automation/service roles
- Working experience in the Maritime Industry (mandatory)
- Hands-on experience with PLC / SCADA / HMI systems
- Practical experience with PLC, SCADA, and HMI software systems
- Familiarity with automation equipment and systems such as sensors, actuators, and drives
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and debugging PLC programs and SCADA/HMI systems
- Knowledge of electrical systems and control systems
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently onboard vessels
- Good communication skills and a service-oriented mindset
- Ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems
Preferred
- Knowledge of drives and power electronics
- Experience supporting new build projects through installation, testing, and handover
- Additional relevant certifications in automation, electrical, or maritime systems
