Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Strategic Communications and Storytelling is a part of athletics’ creative agency responsible for directing communications, media and broadcast relations and storytelling efforts for the institution’s NCAA Division I-FBS intercollegiate athletics program, which sponsors 16 men’s and women’s sports. The position will have primary oversight for a highly visible sport within the department determined by the Senior Director of Strategic Communications and Storytelling.

Essential Job Duties:

• Lead the day-to-day communications, media and broadcast stakeholder relations duties for assigned sports.
• Develop and produce multi-channel content campaigns for assigned sports.
• Measure and report the impact of internal and external communication tactics.
• Provide communication game management for home events of assigned sports.
• Assist in office development and oversight of student workforce.
• Ensure compliance with all departmental, University, Pac-12 and NCAA procedures, rules and regulations.
• Assist with website development and management.
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics or supervisor.

Supervision:

• This position may assist with supervision of student hourly employees, external freelancers, and volunteers.

Conditions of Employment:

• Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).

• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of two years of work experience in athletics media relations.
• Proficiency in publishing software, including InDesign and Photoshop; and Microsoft applications.
• Proficiency in NCAA Live Stats system.
• Proficiency in Website content management and organization.
• Knowledge of NCAA compliance rules and regulations and NCAA statistical rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree.
• Previous experience in content creation and distribution strategy and management.
• Previous experience working in collegiate athletics at the NCAA Division I level.
• Previous experience working in a sports creative and marketing agency model.
• Game management related working experience.
