Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical Telemetry

Location: Syracuse, New York
Job Type: Contract (14 Weeks)
Pay Rate: $65.00 - $75.00/hour
Weekly Hours: 36 Hours
Shift: Days | 12-Hour Shifts
Schedule: 3 Shifts Per Week | Every Other Weekend Required

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive care for adult Medical/Surgical and Telemetry patients in a large academic medical center environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong telemetry monitoring skills, acute care experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.

• Current New York State RN License.

• Current BLS Certification.

• Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute care nursing experience within the last 2 years.

• Experience in hospitals of similar size and complexity.

• Ability to read and interpret telemetry rhythms.

• Strong Medical/Surgical nursing skills.

• IV insertion and vascular access maintenance experience.

• Phlebotomy and laboratory specimen collection experience.

• Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous travel nursing experience.

• Level 1 Trauma Center experience.

• Level 2 Trauma Center experience.

• EPIC Electronic Medical Record experience.

• Experience working in large academic medical centers.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for adult Medical/Surgical and Telemetry patients.

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop patient care plans.

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms.

• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.

• Start peripheral IVs and maintain vascular access devices.

• Collect laboratory specimens as required.

• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the healthcare team.

• Document patient care accurately within the electronic medical record.

• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge needs.

• Adhere to facility policies, patient safety standards, and nursing best practices.
