Job title: Cook

Position Summary:  

Supports production for neighborhood meals, employee café meals, and delivery and catering events. Visibility during dining periods to ensure quality meals and service. Will complete inventory and ordering process as assigned.

Qualifications & Education Required:

• 3 years experience working in a high-volume industrial kitchen required
• HS diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Food Service is preferred
• Ability to read and follow recipes required
• Ability to interact with elders and care for their needs
• Embrace and exemplify St. John’s Brand Characteristics
• ServSafe certification preferred, required within 12 mos. from date of hire

Position Responsibilities:

• Preparation and production of food (hot and cold) in large quantities
• Help produce food items for catered functions
• Maintain working knowledge of regulatory requirements and practices such as OSHA and HACCP
• Prepare food for elders who have specialized dietary needs
• Complete daily food production.
• Implement daily and weekly cleaning schedule for all hot and cold production areas.
• Must be able to interact well with others and handle fast paced work
• Help with other duties as needed that support St John’s mission, vision and values

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift, bend and stand most of the day
• Walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, bending and reaching to accomplish tasks. Ability to lifting up to 50 lbs. 

Exposure to Conditions:

• Possible exposure to wet, slippery surfaces. 
• Working with hot ovens, grease and steam. Using kitchen knives, slicer and electric chopper.
• Utilizing cleaning agents.

This position is exempt based on the FLSA Fair Pay Exemption Administrative Category
