Mechanical Estimator

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established mechanical contractor seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a respected contractor delivering commercial, industrial, healthcare, and mission-critical projects throughout the Greater Columbus region.

We are looking for a well-rounded estimator with strong experience preparing accurate and competitive estimates across mechanical piping, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and industrial mechanical projects
• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
• Complete accurate material and labour takeoffs for piping, plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal scopes
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Develop project budgets, bid proposals, and detailed scope documents
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, and value-engineering opportunities
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project handover meetings
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, suppliers, and field teams
• Maintain accurate estimating records and project documentation
• Support the transition of awarded projects from preconstruction to operations

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator
• Strong estimating experience across mechanical piping, plumbing, HVAC, or sheet metal systems
• Background in commercial, industrial, healthcare, or mission-critical construction
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, installation methods, and labour requirements
• Experience managing multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills
• Knowledge of the Columbus construction market preferred
