Description

The OR Unit Secretary is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Operating Room (OR) by coordinating schedules, and maintaining accurate records. Primary responsibilities include billing, scheduling procedures, updating calendars, maintaining implant logs, and facilitating clear communication between surgical teams, physicians, and hospital staff.

Key duties include processing and submitting billing for surgical procedures, coordinating and scheduling surgeries, and maintaining updated OR calendars, staff assignments, and physician availability. The OR Unit Secretary is also responsible for tracking and documenting implant usage, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations. Strong communication skills are essential, as this role serves as a liaison between the OR team, physicians, patients, and administrative staff to ensure efficient information flow. Additional responsibilities include maintaining patient records, procedural documentation, compliance reports, and assisting with clerical tasks such as answering phones, and handling correspondence.

Education

Required

High School or better.

Experience

Preferred

Previous Clerical Experience Preferred. Medical Terminology Preferred.
