Location: Forest, MS 39074
Shift: Tuesday & Thursday, 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and engaging ESL Instructor to provide in-person English as a Second Language (ESL) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) instruction to adult frontline employees at a facility in Forest, MS.
The instructor will be responsible for delivering engaging classroom instruction, developing course materials, tracking attendance and student progress, administering oral assessments, and supporting student retention, belonging, and successful program completion.
Responsibilities- Deliver 6–15 instructional hours per week at the assigned facility; classes are conducted in person.
- Receive 15 minutes of paid planning time for every 1 hour of instructional time .
- Develop instructional materials and support classroom and community building activities prior to testing.
- Attend monthly program check-ins, quarterly virtual faculty meetings, required trainings, registration events, and graduation ceremonies.
- Maintain the live attendance tracker daily, including student first and last name, employee identification number, and arrival/departure times.
- Administer the required oral speaking pretest by the end of Week 3 and posttest by the end of Week 13 .
- Enter oral assessment results into the designated assessment report.
- Prepare completion and participation certificates and update graduation status in the attendance tracker.
- Communicate student absences and tardiness to facility and program partners.
- Provide at least 3 hours' notice for unexpected absences or unplanned events whenever possible.
- Knowledge of effective ESL teaching strategies and methodologies , including:
- Grammar
- Reading
- Writing
- Listening
- Speaking
- Demonstrated English fluency with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accurate real-time data entry.
- Ability to support students' social-emotional needs, sense of belonging, retention, and cross-cultural learning.
- Ability to successfully complete required oral-assessment onboarding, norming, and program training.
- Ability to report to the facility's Security Office upon arrival and comply with all facility policies and procedures.
- Must wear closed-toe shoes with no open heel ; additional facility-specific safety requirements may apply.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
- TESOL certification .
- 3+ years of adult ESL teaching experience .
- Strong classroom management, organization, lesson planning, technology, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in a second language.
- Experience teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) .
$40 per hour
