Responsibilities may include:

  • Supervising meals and snacks.
  • Encouraging appropriate table manners and independence.

  • Following proper handwashing and sanitation procedures.

  • Assist other classrooms when reasonably needed.

Personal phone use should be limited according to school policy and must never interfere with active supervision, classroom engagement, or job responsibilities .

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Sit on the floor and interact with children at their level.
  • Frequently bend, kneel, squat, reach, and move throughout the classroom.
  • Safely supervise children indoors and outdoors.
  • Lift and carry children or classroom materials when necessary.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies or situations involving children's safety.
Attendance & Dependability

Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential because classrooms must maintain required teacher-to-child ratios.

Teachers are expected to:

  • Arrive on time and be ready to begin work at their scheduled start time.
  • Follow school procedures for reporting absences or tardiness.
  • Maintain dependable attendance.
  • Understand that frequent absences or tardiness affect children, coworkers, classroom ratios, and overall school operations.
Overall Expectation

A successful Preschool/Pre-K Teacher does more than supervise children.

The teacher should be actively teaching, engaging, observing, encouraging, communicating, and building relationships throughout the day .

Our goal is for every child to leave the Preschool/Pre-K program feeling confident, capable, curious, socially prepared, and excited about entering kindergarten , while families feel confident that their child has been loved, challenged, supported, and well prepared.
