Pediatric Hospitalist Physician

We are seeking a Board Certified Pediatrician/Pediatric Hospitalist for locum coverage in Cheyenne, Wyoming, beginning January 2027.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: January 2027
• Primary need: 10 days during January
• 10 consecutive days preferred
• Potential for additional coverage throughout 2027

Schedule

• 12-hour in-house shifts
• Days: 7:00 AM 6:30 PM
• Nights: 6:30 PM 7:00 AM
• No telehealth coverage

Practice Setting

• Pediatric Hospitalist
• Pediatric inpatient unit
• Level 2B Nursery
• 12 pediatric patient rooms
• Epic EMR

Patient Volume

• Pediatric census: Approximately 3 4 patients/day
• Deliveries: Approximately 4/day
• NICU census: Approximately 2 3 babies

Clinical Responsibilities

• Pediatric inpatient management
• Newborn and nursery management
• Circumcisions
• Frenotomy, if performed by physician
• Lumbar punctures
• UAC/UVC placement
• Needle decompression
• CPAP and Optiflow
• Continuous albuterol
• Magnesium sulfate
• Nebulized epinephrine
• DKA/insulin drip management for children over age 5 without cerebral edema
• Outpatient pediatric infusions, including IVIG, rabies treatment, and chemotherapy

Stabilization & Transport

Telephone/telehealth NICU and PICU support is available from Children's Hospital Colorado when stabilizing patients for transport.

Physicians should be comfortable with stabilization procedures including:

• Intubation and ventilator management
• CPAP/BiPAP
• Passive cooling
• Needle decompression
• Initiation of vasopressors
• Magnesium sulfate
• Responding to neonatal and pediatric traumas and codes when available

Requirements

• MD required
• Board Certification in Pediatrics required
• Must be comfortable with Pediatric Hospitalist and neonatal coverage
• Must be comfortable performing the listed inpatient and stabilization procedures
• Wyoming license or IMLC

Credentialing

• Approximately 4 6 weeks

Ideal Candidate

A Board Certified Pediatrician/Pediatric Hospitalist with strong inpatient and neonatal experience who is comfortable independently managing pediatric patients, newborns, and stabilization for higher-acuity transfers. Preference will be given to physicians who can provide 10 consecutive days of coverage in January 2027, with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts throughout the year.
