Job Overview

Install truck equipment on truck chassis, including heavy- and light-duty service bodies, truck-mounted cranes, truck hoists, hydraulic air compressors, outriggers, liftgates, snowplows, spreaders, and various accessories (toolboxes, hitches, lighting, etc.). Perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assembly work across various equipment lines.

Key Duties & Installation Procedures

• Equipment Assembly: Install truck bodies, cranes, hoists, liftgates, and accessories on truck chassis following specifications.
• Fabrication & Welding: Fabricate and weld components during custom equipment mounting and assembly.
• Electrical & Hydraulics: Route and connect electrical wiring, lighting systems, trailer plugs, brake components, and hydraulic lines.
• Precision Fitting: Trim and fit parts to required tolerances per company policies and drawings; work with small components requiring manual dexterity.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve basic mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic assembly issues.
• Shop Equipment Use: Safely operate a variety of hand tools and safely move heavy equipment around the shop.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Technical Skills

• Aptitude for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assembly.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings, and truck specification documents.
• Mastery of standard measurements (ability to read fractions of an inch on a tape measure).
• Welding and basic metal fabrication ability.

Physical Demands

• Physical ability to bend, squat, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity for small parts assembly and handling heavy equipment.

Work Ethic & Soft Skills

• Strong attention to detail with pride in workmanship and quality.
• Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Clear and legible handwriting for shop paperwork.
• Self-starter capable of working independently.
• Excellent attendance record and strong reliability.
