SENIOR EOF COUNSELOR

Position Overview Senior EOF Counselor at Rutgers University‑Newark (Academic Foundations Center). Responsible for programmatic development and implementation of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program, providing academic, career, financial aid, and personal counseling to undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds, and coordinating with faculty and external agencies. Responsibilities Assist in programmatic development and implementation of the EOF Program and ensure academic achievement and graduation for an assigned caseload. Provide orientation to campus culture as well as academic, career, financial aid, and personal counseling. Serve as liaison with faculty, academic advisors, residence life, student life, financial aid, registrar’s office, admissions, learning resource and writing centers, and other internal and external special programs. Develop, initiate, and administer special projects and services for the summer program’s academic component and specific EOF populations to promote leadership, holistic growth, and achievement. Conduct outreach to outside community constituents, agencies, and schools on behalf of EOF students. Teach a credit‑bearing course during the summer bridge program and during the academic year focused on strategies for academic success. Qualifications & Requirements Master’s degree, preferably in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field. Minimum two years of experience working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Expert knowledge of non‑traditional college students and ability to implement academic and affective support. Experience in developing and conducting academic support workshops, strong writing, analytical, and presentation skills. Willingness to work with diverse cultures and backgrounds. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to assess program participants per EOF program guidelines. Preferred Qualifications Not specified. Salary Annual salary range roughly $76,820 – $112,439, commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the university’s compensation structure.
