Clinical Laboratory Scientist II - 27779We are currently looking for a Full Time Clinical Laboratory Scientist II to join our Laboratory Group team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center working 12:00pm-9:00pm Monday-Friday, every 4th Holiday and every 4th weekend.Summary: Provides clinical laboratory services consisting of moderate to high complexity testing without direct supervision.Responsibilities:Assess test results and reliability of testing procedures and identify instrument malfunctions, reagent failures, specimen interference, etc., that may affect test resultsFollows laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, tests analyses and reports and maintains records of test resultsProvides patients with instructions regarding specimen collection, diet instructions, etc.Performs laboratory testing for specimen processing and test performancePerforms and documents instrument and procedure calibrations, maintenance and troubleshootingAssesses specimens for acceptability for testing and accession into laboratory workflowAssists internal customers in ensuring appropriate tests are ordered with proper specimen requirementsPerforms proficiency testing according to Laboratory policyNotifies the Senior Technologist and/or instrument service personnel for any unscheduled maintenance needsTakes and documents corrective action or immediately notify the Senior/Clinic Technologist or Laboratory ManagerPerforms inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy when neededMaintains, restocks, and orders inventory and supplies under the direction of the Laboratory Manager or Senior/Clinic TechnologistAssists the Senior Technologist in each section as directedFollows laboratory quality control and quality assurance protocols. Documents all quality control activitiesNotifies providers of critical values and STAT results as specified in the Laboratory Policy ManualAssigns results and conducts further examinations or take additional or alternate actions as appropriateAssists in maintaining a friendly, clean, safe and neat work environmentPerforms repairs and adjustments on equipment and verifies operationPerforms all other duties as assignedCompetencies:Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment or situationAble to follow instructions, both written and oralAble to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirementsAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all mattersMust be detail-orientedHonesty, truthfulness, reliability, accountabilityPrioritizes, meets deadlines and works independently in a high-pressure environment and uses appropriate judgement in upward communication regarding assignmentsAble to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelinesKnowledge to perform/monitor the full range of laboratory testingKnowledge of medical technology principles, techniques, and instrumentsKnowledge and skill sufficient to conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents and productsKnowledge in external proficiency testing programs; and evaluate result of quality control procedures and implement corrective actions when indicatedOrganizational and time-managementAble to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and managementCommunicates clinical information to patient in emergent or urgent settingsWrites effective communications with team, departments, guests and managementSkills:Basic Computer skillsSkilled in operating a computer and/or other equipment related to specific role (i.e. automated currency counters, calculator, projector, binding machine, other related office equipment)Experience:2 years directly related experienceEducation:Associates or Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, medical technology or medical laboratory technician from an accredited institution.
