Systems Engineering RoleSystems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has significant autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.Roles and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for execution of design/turbine operation changes to eliminate causes of turbine forced outages in warranty fleet and core fleetIdentify and develop programs to drive down time to return units to servicePartner with Program Management and Product Line to guide optimal design decisions for current products, new products, and commercial deals to achieve business objectivesLead technical program teams on system trade-offs and optimizations with a focus on the reduction of Services costs through elimination of forced outagesCommunicate and provide recommendations through analysis, preparation and presentation of technical material to internal and external audiencesLead Services investments from pre-conceptual design work through design, validation and launch, prioritizing and managing risks on safety, quality, delivery, and costContribute to development of the Multigeneration Engineering Plan for Services, focused on improving operations through reliability and costEffectively manage program requirements and requirement flow down to optimize product offering and competitivenessWork with Systems Leaders to leverage lessons learned, best practices, process improvements and standard workSupport and improve the availability and serviceability of existing wind turbine fleetContribute to new and existing design practicesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited university or collegeMinimum of 5 years of significant experience in Engineering/TechnologyMinimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience working on wind turbine system and/or services related projectsDesired Characteristics• Ability to break down complex issues, determine possible courses of action, and enable effective decision making• System or product-level mindset• Conceptual design and/or system-level trade-off experience• Loads, data analysis, and problem-solving experience• Wind turbine experience in design, installation, operation, maintenance or repairs• Requirements definition, decomposition, and/or translation experience• Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences• Strong interpersonal and leadership skillsGE Vernova offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
