Electrical Foreman
$30 - $40 per hourJob Description
This role leads field crews on multiple electrical construction projects across the Charleston (CHS) area, including data centers, industrial expansions, and institutional facilities. The Electrical Foreman plans and coordinates daily activities on active job sites, ensures work meets specifications and safety standards, and supports supervisors with scheduling, material management, and documentation. The position requires regular travel between job sites, including eligibility for per diem when working away from home.
Responsibilities
- Assist supervisors with ordering materials, managing schedules, and coordinating daily job site activities across multiple projects.
- Prepare and maintain required safety documentation, including Jobsite Safety Analysis (JSA), Jobsite Hazard Analysis (JHA), and safety reports.
- Interpret and track project schedules, develop two-week look-ahead plans, and forecast manpower needs to keep projects on track.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to determine construction requirements and plan work procedures.
- Formally request and manage materials, tools, and supplies to ensure crews have what they need when they need it.
- Train and mentor workers on construction methods, underground electrical construction practices, equipment operation, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Monitor crew performance, anticipate production challenges, and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, quality, and team morale.
- Measure, mark, and verify layout locations for electrical structures, conduits, and equipment in accordance with project drawings.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant job site at all times, enforcing the proper use of PPE and adherence to safety standards.
- Manage the daily process for equipment inspections and end-of-day reporting to ensure compliance, accuracy, and operational continuity.
- Operate or oversee the operation of equipment such as excavators and loaders for underground utilities and conduit installation.
- Coordinate work across multiple sites, including data centers, industrial facilities, and downtown projects, and remain flexible to changing job site assignments.
- Minimum 1 year of underground electrical construction experience (required).
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience recommended in electrical or utility construction.
- Hands-on experience with underground utilities, conduit installation, and utility construction.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Experience operating or supervising the operation of excavators, loaders, and related construction equipment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, coach, and mentor field crews.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with supervisors, crews, and other stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate and resolve production and field challenges.
- High school diploma or GED (required); technical or community college education preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License (required).
- Ability to work 40+ hours per week and overtime as required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work overhead, stand for extended periods, and climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Comfort working on multiple job sites across a wide geographic area and traveling as needed.
- Technical or community college education in electrical, construction, or a related field (preferred).
- Bilingual communication skills in Spanish and English are a plus, supporting a majority Spanish-speaking workforce.
- Experience preparing and maintaining safety documentation such as JSA, JHA, and safety reports.
- Experience developing two-week look-ahead schedules and forecasting manpower needs.
- Familiarity with data center, industrial, and institutional construction environments.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain an organized job site and enforce safety and quality standards.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, field-based environment with changing priorities and multiple active projects.

Work Environment
This is a field-based role working primarily on active construction sites across the Charleston area and beyond. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a minimum of 35 hours per week guaranteed even in the event of weather-related downtime. On average, crews are currently working around 55 hours per week, so comfort with regular overtime is essential. The work involves outdoor and job site environments, including underground electrical construction and utility work using equipment such as excavators, loaders, and conduit installation tools. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times and includes steel-toed boots, safety glasses, a hard hat, gloves, and a high-visibility vest. The role requires frequent standing, climbing stairs and ladders, working overhead, and lifting up to 50 pounds in a variety of weather and site conditions.
