Job Summary

The role involves performing essential respiratory care services while working independently and supervising others as delegated. Responsibilities include providing respiratory care for adult and geriatric patients diagnosed with respiratory diseases under physician orders and in compliance with department policies. The position requires meticulous documentation of patient care activities in electronic medical records and various flow sheets.

Essential Functions

• Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed therapy and make recommendations for patients receiving respiratory care services.
• Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy while maintaining patient charts.
• Conduct arterial blood gas draws per policy and physician orders.
• Provide care and monitoring for ventilator patients.
• Assist in departmental record-keeping and operations, including training and supervising new employees.
• Document care provided and maintain accurate records of treatments.

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (preferred)
• Master's Degree (preferred)
• Three years' technical experience (preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential: Required in CA, OR, and HI
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required in CA
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
• Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification: Preferred
• Registered or Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care: Required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification: Required

Work Schedule

This position is scheduled for night shifts, working three 12-hour shifts with no set days of the week. Availability for flexible scheduling is required.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of two years of recent critical care experience is required for this position.
