About the Opportunity

MoonPay is strengthening its control environment as part of its long-term strategy to build a robust, scalable, and compliant platform at the intersection of financial services and digital assets. We are hiring a Chief Control Officer to build and lead a strong first-line risk and control framework across relevant areas of our business.

This is an opportunity for an experienced financial services controls leader to build and scale a control environment in a fast-evolving industry. You will be responsible for ensuring that risks are effectively identified, appropriate controls are designed and implemented, and their effectiveness is continuously monitored as MoonPay grows.

The role will have a particular focus on fiduciary, custody, and regulated financial services activities , requiring significant experience operating within the US banking environment and a strong working knowledge of applicable regulatory and supervisory expectations.

You will work closely with business leaders and with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and other control functions to establish clear accountability, strengthen first-line ownership, and build a control environment capable of supporting an increasingly complex financial services business.

What You Will Do

• Build and own the first-line risk and control framework across relevant MoonPay activities, including risk and control assessments, control standards, documentation, governance, issue management, and ongoing monitoring of control effectiveness.

• Embed effective controls into business processes , translating regulatory requirements, policies, identified risks, and supervisory expectations into practical and sustainable controls with clear ownership and accountability.

• Establish a robust control monitoring and testing program , identifying control weaknesses, assessing their impact, driving remediation, and providing clear reporting on the effectiveness of the control environment.

• Develop the control framework supporting fiduciary, custody, and other regulated financial services activities , ensuring appropriate governance, processes, controls, and monitoring are embedded throughout the relevant business activities.

• Partner effectively across the three lines of defence , working with business leaders and independent Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit teams to establish clear roles, effective challenge, timely remediation, and strong first-line ownership.

• Build for scale and increasing complexity , establishing the procedures, governance, reporting, systems, and operating cadence required to maintain a robust control environment as MoonPay evolves.

About You

• You bring 15+ years of relevant experience within US banking or regulated financial services , including significant leadership experience in first-line risk, business controls, operational risk, or a comparable control function.

• You have a proven track record as a builder and operator , with hands-on experience designing, implementing, and improving first-line control frameworks spanning risk assessments, control design, monitoring and testing, issue management, remediation, and governance.

• You have deep working knowledge of US banking regulation and supervisory expectations , with meaningful experience supporting fiduciary, trust, custody, transaction services, or closely related banking activities .

• You have a strong understanding of the three lines of defence model and experience establishing effective first-line ownership while partnering closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and senior business stakeholders.

• You are comfortable operating in a high-ambiguity, fast-scaling environment , combining strong technical judgement with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and personally drive the development of robust control infrastructure from the ground up.

Salary: 330,000 - 400,000 USD
Salary is based on experience and location in the US
